Frequently Asked Questions About Our Training Philosophy
Positive reinforcement training uses operant conditioning to shape behavior and help the dogs decode the words I teach them. It makes training fun and keeps the dogs motivated, too.
While I almost exclusively use positive reinforcement, there are times when the dog, the client, or an animal’s (typically a cat’s) life is in danger. In these cases, I will use training collars to create a negative association with a dangerous action or situation.
Results vary depending on the dog, the behaviors being addressed, and your consistency with training. Virtually all clients see improvement within the first lesson, though.
I recommend small, high-value treats that your dog loves but only gets during training. We can discuss specific recommendations during your session.
I train both! My approach focuses on teaching you how to communicate effectively with your dog, ensuring lasting results.
